We read these talks for Family Home Evening. Sunday was a little wild this week.
Pres Monson's talk impressed mw that he would remember the pre dedication celebrations and recognize the events and those that spend so much time preparing for them. I remember the year that we came in from Elko to the All Church Dance Festival. I suspect that memory is like the memory the youth had at the temple dedication activities. I also remember participating in the parking for the Bountiful Temple dedication. It is great to be of service in the Kingdom.
Pres Packer mentioned that the “Saints [were] to seek redress from the judges, the governor and then the president.” I was listening to the Joseph Smith Papers as they discussed this. Apparently, it was Joseph’s tenacity to do exactly as the Lord instructed that drove him to do this. He went to the Judges, then the Governor, then the President, it took over 3 years. The Lord wanted all these to have the change to do the right thing before the judgment of God was upon them. He went to Washington and that trip took over 3 months. He didn’t just ride in, meet with the Pres and ride out. He tried several times to meet with the Pres and members of Congress. All to no avail. They got nothing. But the Lord will deal with their failures.
I, like Elder Godoy look forward to the process of getting a testimony and strengthen it. It is interesting to me how simple it is to get a testimony if one tries.
This week and these talks reminded me of how grateful I am for the gospel in my life. We attended the Draper Temple Open House. I went with a bad headache, wondering how I might enjoy the open house with such a bad headache. About 5 minutes after entering the temple, I noticed my headache was gone. How wonderful are the powers of the temple. We also went to a fireside for temple volunteers last night. Bruce Porter of the 70 was the speaker and spoke about the last days. We are trying to get a copy of the talk. It was a masterpiece! It is such a blessing to be a member of the church, have a testimony and feel the spirit in my life.

May we continue to study, ponder, and pray.
