We read Elder Cause's talk about Even a Child Can Understand. I think this is one of the reasons it's so fulfilling for adults that are called to teach primary. They realize that the doctrine is simple enough for their children to understand and yet complex enough to challenge the adults.
I took note of the last few paragraphs of his talk when he uses the words "Knowing God..." that we can open our hearts to gain a spiritual testimony and then Knowing God is having a testimony that he loves us.
I look forward to growing in an understanding of the doctrine. This simplicity is why a person can hear a few lessons and be willing to commit a life to living the principles. For they all build one upon the other.
Yesterday our primary president shared this story with me. They were talking about the Word of Wisdom to the youngsters in Primary. They told the children that wine wasn't good for them. Then they asked "Who knows what wine is and why it's not good for them?" A cute little red-headed four year old raised her hand. The Primary president called on her. The little girl said, "My mom says I whine way too much and it's not good for her." The new primary presidency, who were just sustained a few weeks ago, all burst out laughing. They said they just couldn't hold it together without laughing about her serious response. Aren't kids the greatest?
