  1. A fullness of joy can be found in unity.

We cannot be unified without love.

Sharing testimonies with one another will cause our hearts to be knit together. Having your testimony strengthened with someone else will bring you closer to that person. This can happen through sharing testimony, passing through a trial together or experiencing a spiritual moment together.

Contention is the opposite of unity. And contention is of the devil. Therefore, unity is of God.

Peacemakers search for similarities. It is through these similarities that unity can begin to grow.

Differences can be seen as opportunities to grow together not as a point of separation.

If you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all. God will bless us with joy and peace as we refrain from taking opportunities to speak poorly of one of his children. Speaking well of others will become easier as we resist the temptation to speak poorly of them.

Heavenly Father wants us to seek unity.

  2. I liked how President Eyring talked of finding unity in our families as well as in the church. I appreciated his suggestion to pray for one another individually. When I am really tired, I cheat and ask Heavenly Father to "bless our families with the things that they need" rather than praying for family members individually. This is something I want to improve!

I also liked how he talked about his family bearing testimony of Jesus Christ during FHE and how that helped the Spirit to knit their hearts together. I know that is true. It makes me want to try harder to focus our family home evenings on the Savior.

  3. Elder Scott's talk made me really appreciate a husband who treats me very well and honors his priesthood. I liked the questions that Elder Scott asks in the private priesthood interview. I think that those kind of evaluations are good for all of us as we are all imperfect and should find ways to be more like Christ.

  4. What a blessing it is to be able to be on the earth during a time when the priesthood has been restored. How blessed should we feel if we have the priesthood in our home or have a home teacher who can bring that blessing to us. I don't think that we utilize the priesthood power to the extent that the Lord would have us use it. Perhaps we should take time to ponder how we can bring the power of God on earth to our lives.

I also appreciated the story about the man who lost his priesthood. Upon hearing this story, I thought that about how much I value good health the minute I come down with a cold. We should focus on the blessing the priesthood brings into our lives and ever be thankful for them. This way, gratitude, I believe that we will be less prone to forget about the powerful blessing God has given us.

What are some other ways we can remember how great of a blessing it is to have access to the priesthood?

  5. Elder Scott asked some interesting questions in his hypothetical personal priesthood interview. I have had and held many of them and the questions he asked were as difficult as any to ask or answer. How ever it will be good for us to remember the questions and ask ourselves how we are doing on living the gospel. If we can’t answer these questions with the right answer, we need to change.

So, do you think he was talking Coke products when he said “Do you scrupulously avoid the use of stimulants and substances that conflict with the intent of the Work of Wisdom?”

  6. Once again President Eyring had crafted a masterful speech. Won’t it be interesting to see the fulfillment of these prophesies? That the Church will continue to include people that we now would not believe would accept. I wonder how and when the Church will be able to proselyte in all the world’s countries? Someday, according to President Eyring.

My we live worthy to be a part of the process.

  7. Melanie:

I appreciate your comment about JLM and his honoring the Priesthood. It is a lot easier to honor when one has a great wife like you. The concept of honoring the priesthood is also a female opportunity. They help bring the feelings to a home to facilitate the spiritual integrity of a home.
